The locks of IJmuiden
The locks of IJmuiden connect the North Sea Canal to the North Sea. The lock complex consists of the Southern Lock from 1876, the Middle Lock from 1896, the Northern Lock from 1929, the Discharge Lock from 1940, and the Pumping Station from 1975.

The Schermer
The mills in the Land of Leeghwater were used to pump water from large lakes. The last to be drained was the Schermer (the Fencer) between 1633 and 1635. Now, people live and work there. Many of the mills have been preserved and are now national monuments!

Cheese Market Edam
In the Middle Ages, the Edam cheese market was the central point in the city. Here, farmers brought their cheeses to be weighed, sold, and exported abroad. Nowadays, the farmer's cheese market in Edam has been restored. On Wednesdays from 10:30 to 12:30 during the summer, a tourist version of the cheese market is held here.

The Dijk of Volendam
Volendam is primarily known for eel fishing, the numerous musicians originating from the village, FC Volendam, and the Volendam Dike. 'Op de Dijk' consists of Zuideinde, Haven, and Noordeinde. Here, you can naturally enjoy delicious eel sandwiches while overlooking the Volendam fishing boats.
